Have you ever made a mistake? Hurt someone’s feelings? Said something you wish you hadn’t?
Hurt Party: A Game of Bad Apologies is a party game that pokes fun at all the unfortunate ways we say we’re sorry.
It hurts to know we've hurt someone, especially when we know we didn't mean to. We never want to hurt the people we love, but inevitably, being human means we make mistakes. And because we value those relationships, we apologize! But it doesn't always go the way we planned.
How to Play?
The goal of Hurt Party is to give the best (worst!) apologies. There are two types of cards in Hurt Party:
- Hurt Cards each feature something that someone did to hurt your feelings
- Apology Cards are (mostly) terrible ways to say you’re sorry for those hurts
To start the game, deal each player seven random Apology Cards, which they keep secret from other players. The player with the birthday closest to the current date goes first, and gameplay goes clockwise.
Each round, one person is the designated "Hurt Party," the person whose feelings were hurt, and they read out a random Hurt Card explaining what hurt them.
Every other player chooses an apology from their hand to apologize with, reading it aloud to the Hurt Party.
The Hurt Party decides which apology is their favorite, and gives their Hurt Card to the player with the best (or worst!) apology.
The first player to collect five Hurt Cards wins the game!
What's In The Box?
Inside the cake-inspired box, you'll find 250 terrible apology cards and 250 cartoonish to real-life hurt cards, along with one rule booklet. All of Hurt Party's illustrations are by the very talented Agnes Barton-Sabo aka Betty Turbo.
Who Can Play?
Hurt Party is designed for 2-7 players. Officially, Hurt Party is for ages 14 and up, though none of the cards in the deck are inappropriate for younger players. Gameplay takes 10-20 minutes, based on the number of players.
