It's not every day we come across a new toddler-friendly toy that feels fresh and different—so we were really excited to get Playtab added to our shelves after we saw it at this year's New York Toy Fair!

Playtab is a modular system of magnetic "tiles," each of which is an interactive toy designed to develop early motor skills and critical thinking for ages 12M+. Each tile is attractively designed and SUPER pleasant (we've been fidgeting with them constantly since they arrived), but just flipping switches and spinning dials isn't exactly revolutionary.

The real magic in Playtab is the modular board setup. For a learning child, seeing the same tiles in new arrangements—or discovering brand new tiles in your board—are huge drivers of critical thinking and mental adaptability. And when I thought about how kids will eventually be able to create their own board to play with, it all clicked for me. This thing is awesome.

Plus, each magnetic tile is the perfect size to grab one and toss it in your pocket for a walk or a car ride.
